What was Hawaii before? Haven't they been in the Mountain West for a few years? Or is it non-revenue sports that is the real story?

They have been football only in the MW. Back in the old WAC, all of it even before the mega-WAC, they were a full member.

I don't know all the details, but in the current MW they have some sort of separate media rights to, such as they can broadcast their own games when not picked up.

They've been an all-sports member of the Big West for several years now. Football was MWC only.

I'm sure the Big West ADs are cheering.

A big bonus for Hawaii is they will no longer pay travel expenses for MW opponents, per the Star Advertiser. And the Big West is again a bus league, save trips to UC Davis.

Will be interesting to learn the details of the TV deal and how it fits into the MW's streaming. Also wonder where sports not offered by the MW fit in, Big West or Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

Do football teams going to Hawaii still get an extra game?

That’s a mighty big check to write each year just to avoid being seen in the same room as Sacramento State.

Sac State is Big Sky, not big West.

You can, but most MWC teams don't.
