So does that mean they have enough players to play despite the vote? Kind of weird.

On the sports, actual competition side of this (and I may be the only one paying attention), San Jose State has now lost in lopsided fashion every conference match they've actually played. Boise State upset CSU last week and if they had played and beat SJSU, they would hold the tiebreaker for first right now. Think that might make them play the second match? Guess it probably depends on where they think they will be in the standings at the end of the season.

The school says it's a legal decision, and I still think that's rather weak. That's putting a bull's-eye on the student-athletes who will be making a public stance if they choose not to play.

I'd also like to know what Nevada Sports Net thinks it's protecting in withholding Fleming's name.

As opposed to the transgender athlete and her teammates having a bullseye on them? Their coach is quoted as saying they’re receiving hate mail and messages.

If the Nevada players are that adamant about not playing, then they can make their stance public and deal with whatever reaction that they’re going to get.

Most news outlets I've seen have not reported the name.

Marisa Ingemi at the SF Chronicle as been on this since day one and has not been using the name.

And again, I say, what do they think they're protecting? Fleming is all public figure now.

The story really isn’t about Fleming. The story is about the reaction to Fleming.

That's an interesting point, and one I probably hadn't given enough thought to.

Still, I think all eyes are gravitating toward Fleming now.

I understand this is way more nuanced than simply being for or against trans rights. I understand biological men are built differently than women. But, and I say this as a Spartan alum, why the fuck is Slusser still on this team?

She had such a problem with her teammate and wants others to quit rather than potentially facing a trans woman, why the fuck is she still playing WITH the trans woman? She clearly has no problem taking advantage of any edge her teammate gives her (which is nil based on their record). She has no problem setting for her. But she wants other people to stand on their beliefs and quit. Well, there’s the door to Uchida Hall. Use it.

Over/under for Brooke Slusser embarking on the talk-show tour: +/- 3 months
