I've seen it argued that it was a good way for Harris to separate herself from Biden. I don't believe that... but if it was the other side it would be viewed as 37th dimensional chess.

I'm packing my brass knuckles in my back pocket to the polling place on Tuesday. Any fucker gets in my face, they'll be lucky to be just spiting Chicklets. I would put my 12-gauge in the car, but that seems overboard.

if the election goes as I sincerely hope, I do hope people have LONG memories - and much of what was said and done is not quickly memory-holed or dismissed as "well, that's just campaign rhetoric." I'm not suggesting legal action, but the media particularly owe it to their viewers to call out all of the bad actors in this campaign - and there are quite a few. They should be forever defined by what they did and did not do in this election cycle.

You're dreaming. Either Trump wins and the media goes into full suck-up to Republican daddy mode or Harris wins and this is no time for recriminations.

I was thinking about something along these lines today. Let's say Trump actually loses (is there a god?), and now he's too old and loser of a figure to matter much beyond the next few years. He's such a unique (piece-of-shit) character, and I do believe it is difficult to cover such a fucking wild man (though it still should be better, go to hell horse race assholes).

All that said, how is the next GOP front-runner covered? Do we ever go back to the days where a scandal actually matters? Desantis ended up being a joke of a candidate, but there was a time when many of us were worried, "Oh, god, he's the POLISHED Trumper. That's who we need to worry about." I'd say that's still a thing to definitely worry about.

Do the standards ever change again? Does the Teflon of Trump go away? Or does something (please, love of god, motherfucker and everything even halfway holy) change?
