Triumph were Toronto boys who were huge in Canada - and in some areas in the US - and one of the biggest bands when I was in high school. They were fucking shit, warmed over Zeppelin riffs and a thoroughly unimaginative cover of Rocky Mountain Way.

    “Armageddon It.”

Def Leppard is probably the most overrated band from the ‘80s, and the word play is literally the worst of all time, but goddamn is it a catchy tune.

Fight the Good Fight is a lifetime pass for any musical transgressions they may have committed. How Rik Emmett hits those closing notes makes Geddy Lee weep.

My cassette case in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s showed a weird affinity for Canadian rock for a kid from the lower midwestern US. Honeymoon Suite, Triumph, April Wine, Kim Mitchell, the Headpins, Alannah Myles, Sass Jordan.
