I respect you and agree with you, but you also completely made my point. The Democrats answer to anytime the middle complains is basically, “fuck you, can’t you see we are trying to save the spotted wombat today and are horrible for not caring about the spotted wombat. Everyone, those fuckers hate the spotted wombat. Boo!”

And yes, the GOP does the same counter stuff all the time. “There would be money for you, but the Dems spent it all on the spotted wombat.”

They would feel high unemployment even with low inflation.

Odd - Dems looking likely to win at least four of the five Senate seats (2 open seats, 3 Dem incumbents) in the seven battleground states where Trump went 7-0. PA is the only one where they are behind, but it hasn't been called yet.
I don't expect the Dems to get back into Ohio, WV or Montana anytime soon, they were lucky to have those seats for as long as they did. They'll need to flip a few states in the coming years if they ever want to control the Senate again.
Best Dem opportunities in '26: Alaska (its a weird state), Iowa, Kentucky (if Andy Beshear runs), Maine, and North Carolina, And will have to defend Georgia and Michigan.

Yeah, spotted wombat research funding is why the CHIPS Act and Inflation Reduction Act didn't get passed and didn't result in massive infrastructure projects that would have put a lot of paychecks into the hands of trades workers.

It took a massive crash almost 100 years ago to enact a lot of the safety net we have today.
Looks like we are heading in that direction again.
That's about the only silver lining I see.

When I purchased my first home in 1996 it cost three times my income.

Today the same home costs 16 times my income.

The Biden Administration poured hundreds of millions of dollars into red state projects. Didn't get them a g*damned vote.

Mark it down now. Ossoff and Warnock are gone. If 2024 is any indication, Democrats won't win any national race in Georgia for a very long time. Jesus H. Christ hisself could be on the ballot, gas could be $10 a gallon, there could be 30 percent unemployment and 84 percent of the mouthbreathers up here would still vote for the Republican.

Gwen went to lunch yesterday with a lady friend who asked to bless the meal. She thanked God for the miracle that is Donald Trump. I'm definitely certain the Bible we read is missing that part.

We all love that until the moment of, “where the heck am I going to live if I move.”

That is wonderful to read, though. Unless the media biz has beaten you down where you’re making less. (I’m chiding lightly — not intended to be a dick.)

The 2016 election defeat could be chalked up to the electoral college and Dems nominating the most hated woman in American political history.

But....this one....Christ....an even worse outcome. After the coup, after the murderous covid response, the convictions, the indictments, the sexual abuse liability, the classified docs theft, the obstruction, the collusion, the lies, the racism, the utter incoherence, the broken promises, the insane hangers on, the....

There are some mistakes the last decade on the Dem side.

For all of the angst over the SupCo, Obama didn’t buy hurricane insurance in his second term. He couldn’t get RBG to retire while he was still in office. It’s very rare for a party to get 12 straight years in office. Either he couldn’t convince her or she just wouldn’t go. That could have been done in 2015 to ensure the next 30 years of liberal seats.

Biden should have laid the groundwork for a Harris candidacy in 2023 and opened her up for more exposure on big decisions.

Harris needed to talk about, specifically, how to battle inflation but, more importantly, what would she have pushed for with a (likely) Republican Senate and (possibly) House. What would she have done as president with that. Clinton did it from 1995-1999 fairly well. What was HER plan? We never got that. She tried to be Obama II and it was like Cannonball Run II.
