im not trying to humanize Trump, but trying to to explain to people on the left here who can’t seem to understand why people didn’t vote for a party containing a large number of people who like to deem them terrible for being mad they are paying through the nose every where they go.

I agree with your overall point: even rock-solid Blue states on the Left Coast have large, largely rural areas that vote MAGA. But as someone who lives east of the Cascades in Washington, it’s not so cut and dried. Local Republicans usually win here, but not with overwhelming majorities. The influx of Latino residents, redrawing of Legislative districts to prevent spreading their communities out, and renewed GOTV campaigns for newly eligible voters are (slowly) making a difference.

TL;DR: we’re not all barbarians out here! ;)

While everybody was busy wetting themselves over the price of Pringles at the local Gulp n' Blow, they paid no mind to the fact that Alito and Thomas are GONE soon and will be replaced by two 25 y.o. FedSoc dude bros with JDs from the Strom Thurmond School of Law.

You’re assuming financial angst is the true reason for their vote.

Those of us on the left aren't immune from inflation. We pay the same prices they do.

I understand they are mad about inflation. It's the racism, homophobic behavior, hatred of trans, bullying of those less fortunate, nativism and expecting everyone adhere to their "Christian" values, while supporting a candidate who lives those values, that makes them offensive to me.

Did you feel this way when the right calls the left antisemetic baby killers who want to destroy America and turn their kids trans?

I mean … I’m an original opponent of the Iraq war. Let me tell you something about being demonized by your political opponents.

Once upon a time, America stood so tall in the world that the smartest man to ever live chose to make his home there and become a citizen in 1940.

Now it is a place where we gotta kiss the ring of a toxic meathead podcaster whose most respectable frequent guest is a pyramidiot who microdoses ayahuasca on the reg.

These are the current rules of the game:

    - Democrats have to be polite when we question “They’re poisoning the blood of America” and our candidate has to flawlessly describe detailed policy points off the top of their head.

-Republicans get to talk about an Arnold Palmer’s dick, unspecified tariffs, and the dining habits of Haitian immigrants. Policy is assumed.

and micro, if Harris and the democrats hammered your first two sentences home the outcome may have been different.

and I am completely onboard with your second paragraph.

I actually loathe horrible shit the right does. I also opposed the Iraq invasion, and the Afghanistan invasion. I also opposed Israel’s continued assault on Palestine. I also think Palestine shouldn’t have attacked civilians a year ago in Israel.

but AGAIN, I’m pointing out what a lot of people in the middle feel. And the reactions from people on this board, reinforce theory.
