Anyone here have a Bluesky account? I've had one for about a year or so. Got very little traction on it, given that it was invite-only when I first got an account. I basically just posted links on it and let it fester during my offseason.

However, I've noticed a big uptick in followers over the last week or so. Still a pittance of what I have on Twitter, but getting to the point where it's not insignificant. I think Bluesky dropped the invite thing, and I'm sure the Elon/election shit might be playing a role, but has anyone else noticed this on your Bluesky feed?

I would love to drop-kick Twitter straight into the heart of the sun and use Bluesky exclusively, but I doubt the boss man would approve.

I think they've been trying to grow slowly, vs. what Threads seemingly tried and failed to do. As a result, its been a slow trickle over to Bluesky, with some bumps here and there based on whatever lunacy Musk has been involved in that week. The audience on Bluesky does seem to skew more tech and artsy, so I imagine that sports is going to be one of the last cohorts to migrate over there, excluding reporters and columnist types.

Yeah, but maybe that's changing. I swear my followers have tripled in the last week or so. Granted, it was a *very* low number to start with, but it's definitely noticeable.

I just updated my Bluesky profile this morning and noticed a big uptick in activity overall. The accounts that have been keeping me on Twitter are starting to migrate.

I spent the afternoon yesterday unfollowinh a lot of political accounts on Twitter, so it's down to sports and trusted news sources. I have Threads but want to explore it more before flipping off the bird.

Bluesky is open to everybody now, no invites required. I've shifted over and am glad I did, even if I have a fraction of the followers. Quality over quantity. Animated gifs and video are supported now, too, so Sportsky is starting to take off. Just remember that the lack of an algorithm means you have to put in a bit more effort finding people to populate your feed and reskeet posts you find interesting so others can see them.

    Re: Bluesky

I’ll show you mine if you show me yours. Drop a DM if you’d like me to follow and get a mostly pointless (but hopefully politics free) new account to follow in return. Who can resist?
