Jerry is such an ass. In the same Athletic story, CeeDee Lamb is quoted as saying he can't see the damn ball. But let's put Jerrah's hubris over the need of his players. Clown.

"Its Curtains for the Cowboys" is a headline that writes itself.

Thinking a lot more about Washington-Pittsburgh yesterday...

    * Commanders were in it--and probably should have won--despite multiple dropped passes in key moments. I can think of at least five off the top of my head.
    * Brutal special teams play. Two muffed punts, including one that directly led to a Pittsburgh TD.
    * I knew St-Juste was going to get toasted at a key moment, and the second I saw him in single coverage with Williams, I knew it was going to happen then. He's simply not a starting-level NFL corner. Lattimore can't get in there fast enough.
    * No Brian Robinson hurt. Without him, the Commanders have a rotation of three guys who are exactly the same body type in Ekeler, Rodriguez and McNichols. Needed some punishing running, but those guys just aren't cut out for it.

So no doom and gloom here. Dust off and move on. The bottom of the NFC is so bad that it's going to take 10 wins minimum, and maybe even 11, to feel good about a wild card. I don't have to squint hard to see four pretty sure-fire wins on the schedule, provided Daniels stays upright -- Tennessee at home, both Dallas games, some combo of Atlanta home or New Orleans away. Strength of remaining schedule is 24th in the NFL, and it's only that high because of the two Philly games remaining.

Slo-mo of the blocked field goal that clinched the Chiefs' win. Not often you see an entire line get destroyed like that. No. 54 for the Broncos (left guard) went ass over teakettle.

Does Jerry's field run east- west or north-south?

It's gotta be east-west based on how piercing that sun is.

My thoughts exactly. I've noticed some sun breaking through in Minnesota, bit it's not a factor.

It’s east-west. Sat in the upper deck of the east side once during a late afternoon game years ago (the Matt Flynn second half comeback game).

Said this then, I can’t believe they didn’t account for the blinding afternoon sun when configuring it.

I remember vividly the evening traffic reports on WBAP talking about “sun delays” on I-30 from Dallas to Fort Worth this time of year. Can only imagine what it’s like in that stadium.

I think both teams would have come away thinking they should have won if they lost. I also don't think the losing team has any reason for gloom and doom. It was a non-conference game against a strong opponent. That one could easily go either way. I think that would be true if they met again, though at that point we would both be pretty happy because that would mean a trip to the Super Bowl. (I'm not predicting that for either team. Just a fun thought.)

The Steelers had their share of self-inflicted damage yesterday, starting with the fake punt. Forget that it was a foolish risk even with the Commanders practically betting on them to do it with their formation. You are asking a safety to throw the ball and a cornerback to catch it. It was very likely one of them would screw it up, which Pierre did when he dropped it. I thought the muffed punt kind of canceled that out.

The Steelers took some dumb penalties, especially Joey Porter, Jr. He can get a little handsy, but he is usually better than that even against elite receivers like McLaurin. I thought the interference call that set up Washington's last touchdown was weak, but I get why it was called. Despite quite a few penalties, both teams got breaks on missed calls. Pierre easily could have been called for interference on the third-down play before Ertz was stopped short. The Commanders got away with a blatant hold on a field goal and another one when Scott grabbed Watt's jersey with both hands on a pass from the end zone right after Warren's fumble. (Yeah, yeah. Fans talking about penalties after the game. I can link the videos if y'all want to see either one.)

I am left wondering why Daniels didn't run more. Did the Steelers do a good job taking that away? Were they protecting his injured ribs? I don't think he had his best day and he was still damn good, especially the way he takes care of the ball. That's no small feat against the Steelers' defense.
