    Starting early this year.

Temple just fired Stan Drayton, who at least went out on top by winning his final game on Saturday.

We needed to get the thread going but he isn’t the first. All these have openings, including the two MWC schools with season-long interim coaches:

    Ball State
    East Carolina
    Fresno State
    Kennesaw State
    Rice
    Southern Miss
    Temple
    Utah State

Still waiting for the big boy opening that breaks the market open. Depends on who is desperate enough or rich enough to fund a giant buyout, the new guy’s salary and the NIL budget a strong candidate will demand.

Lot of schools that should consider dropping down a level or abandoning the sport altogether.

Add UMass, and the interim says thanks a lot.

Wasn't that long ago he was a rising star. Now, fired by FAU.

I think this means that both coaches in this past weekend's Temple-FAU game have been whacked.

With the looming House settlements coming and athletic departments already constantly asking donors for tons of money for NIL, I would think the days of paying coaches crazy money to go away have to be mostly done. Which probably guarantees they won't be.

Tighter contracts maybe though. We've seen schools go out of their way to fire coaches for cause to get out of the payoff. And if you kick a few rocks on any program, you will find skeletons. Sexual harassment (by the coach or an underling he didn't properly supervise), improper spending, recruiting violations, verbal abuse.
The added bonus, if the coach sues for wrongful termination and wins - or even settles - the money comes out of the school's general fund and not the athletic department.
