Incoming Congresswoman Sarah McBride, the first openly trans representative in that branch, is already running up against the right's hard views toward gender identity, but this article for The Guardian shows she's handling it well.

Trans congresswoman Sarah McBride responds to Capitol Hill bathroom ban

The best paragraph of the whole thing, which brings up a very good question:

The statement then counterattacked with: “If this was truly about creating safe spaces for women, why isn’t there more of an uproar from Nancy and her colleagues about the fact that a man found liable of sexual abuse is our president-elect, and that several of his high-level appointees have been accused of sexual assault?”

I have to admit that I, myself, can see the issues with this issue. My own thoughts and views are still evolving. I do see it as a potentially difficult thing for all involved, with problems that should be addressed, and I'm not sure how best to do that. It definitely needs to be done with compassion, sensitivity and consideration, though, and just based on this piece, McBride seems like someone I'd like to get to know.

On Jan. 20, all former presidents should officially renounce SS protection, since under its new management it's more likely the SS will be out to kill them rather than protect them.
