Edmund Fitzgerald items sell for thousands at Lightfoot auction

DULUTH — Fans of the late Gordon Lightfoot rewarded the Canadian singer-songwriter's estate with prices stretching up to $350,000 for items he owned, including numerous pieces related to the Lake Superior ballad "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald."
An acoustic guitar used to write that song and others sold for $350,000 in an auction run by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions that closed Sunday. According to a news release, a group of "several Canadian collectors" pitched in to secure that instrument.
