Unsolicited advice on Chinese food, at any restaurant ask them if they have a claypot dish (food is simmered in a claypot) and if so, get whatever looks delicious to your tastes. You won't be disappointed.

I used to teach a class called Mass Media & Pop Culture. In that class, I talked about da Vinci's The Last Supper. I gave some history on it, talked about who all was in the painting and what they were doing, blah blah. Then I showed examples of how that painting had made its way into pop culture, with various other groups of folks posed in a similar fashion.

For an assignment, I told my students about a book called My Last Supper: 50 Great Chefs and Their Final Meals. Then I would ask them to plan their final meal. If they knew their time had come to an end, how would they like it to end? They had to tell me a setting - where the meal would take place, who would be there, what music would be playing and, most importantly, what would be on the menu.

For my birthday yesterday, my wife, who is a chef, made my favorite dessert: a coconut-buttermilk pie, and as I was eating it, I looked over at the bookcase in the dining room and spotted My Last Supper, and thought that if I were to plan my final meal, this would be the dessert that I would choose, the final thing that I would ever taste. That's how good that pie was. And most of it is still in the refrigerator. I'll probably have a slice in the morning with a cup of coffee.

Didn't a French Premier eat some rare bird blindfolded as his last dinner?
