My condolences, @TrooperBari. That's a terrible call to receive. Hoping grace and kindness finds you and your family over the coming days.

Since my wife's parents died, what used to be a twenty to thirty person family gather has scattered. For the last couple of years my wife and I have simply eaten out on Thanksgiving and avoided the cooking and stress. This year a friend of mine mentioned that he and his wife were going to the Irondale Cafe, which was the Whistlestop Cafe in the movie. It's a nice meat and three. Turned out that we got in line right behind my buddy and his extended family, purely by co-incidence. We swapped stories in line, ate, and went home. No work, no drama, no politics.

Then I took a turkey snooze.

Nice day in Boulder. Nine of us. My sister's family, parents, myself and one of my brothers. Gorgeous day after yesterday's snow. BIL did a great job with the bird and the kids kicked ass on the pies. And a big plate to bring home for later in the week.

    And I'm sorry @TrooperBari.

Thanks, folks. Managed to secure a flight that leaves at 9 p.m. tonight and gets to Omaha at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Hoping I'm similarly fortunate to the last time I got a "come home now" message and we get one last day together.

Safe travels Bari. Wishing you and your family good thoughts.

Uneventful dinner - of course my dad had to ask my niece about her new job as a lice technician (exactly what it sounds like) while we were in the middle of dinner. Politics were mostly avoided. But the drama always seems to kick up a few notches after I leave (for whatever reason). Hahahaha. :)
