    lol - $10,000

I live in a middle class LA county suburb, and while walking my dog this morning, saw a sign for a missing cat. These people were offering $1,000 for the return of their kitty cat.

Snitches get stitches. Unless they have United as their insurer. Then its just a band-aid.

Maybe it's the fan of DB Cooper in me, but I kind of hope whoever did this is never found.

(Yeah, yeah, it's wrong to think that. He committed a horrible crime and should be caught and punished. I'm not a good person, I know.)

This headline is one reason a large group of citizens distrust and make fun of news media. They don't know WTF they're writing or talking about, and don't take the time or initiative to learn.

A bullet is the projectile fired from a cartridge, which contains the powder and a primer that ignites the powder. Ignited powder burns, creating gas and pressure that forces the bullet out of the cartridge casing and through the barrel.

The words most likely were on the cartridge casings ejected onto the sidewalk. The fired bullets would've been mangled, deformed, expanded, in pieces. Big difference.

Suppressors, aka 'silencers' thanks to movies and culture, also are not 100 percent silent. But they definitely reduce the decibel level of a shot. Another bit of terminology often misidentified in the news media. It's just easier (and lazier) to write bullets and silencer, though.

Interestingly, they found three full rounds along with some casings. I'm guessing the full rounds were ejected as part of the jamming issues that caused him to rack the slide repeatedly.

They'll add some more reward money and someone will flip. Ten grand isn't enough. Or he'll make a mistake and get caught.

We were offering $1,000 when our new dog ran away 30 months ago. Even before the offer was made we were getting various tips and sightings.

Fortunately we got her back ourselves. :)

UHC stock is down 20 percent. My guess isn't because the CEO was irreplaceable, but all of the UHC history and practices that will see the light of day because of the story.

Should be down 32% to match their denial rate.

Run the insurance company's customer list against the list of people who've got a tax stamp for a suppressor. Go from there.

That said, as cool as he was clearing those jammed rounds and as quickly as he got off the X, he might have thought this through enough that he didn't make the mistake of confiding in anybody or something amateurish like having his actual cell phone with him that could be traced.

I hope the appeals to ID him get denied.

NYT just posted a photo of him without his mask. He stayed at an Upper West Side hostel, which is where they got the photo.

Supergenius assassin too dumb to realize face would be seen on camera at a hostel he stayed at. Yep, a real Mitch Leary on our hands.

And hey, how about this for a connection: he stayed at the hostel I lived in for a month when I made a first, failed move to New York City. I watched the 02 Winter Olympics from the lobby.

Speaking of insurances that fuck people over: VA, Medicaid, and Medicare claims get denied regularly. Do we have a helpful list of folks who should be assassinated as retribution?
