    Alabama won two national championships in the previous eras when it didn't win the SEC West, then backdoored and muscled its way into the conversation. The Gumps have no right to complain this time around when it doesn't go their way.

    Penn State, an institution that presented itself as a mandarin of virtue but covered up child sexual abuse, vs. SMU, a school that had its program shut down because it did something that is perfectly acceptable and legal under NCAA terms today.

    One school got the death penalty, the other DESERVED the death penalty.
