I've made a list of new and old television shows I've never watched, documentaries and books that I've been meaning to read. I'm going to plow through these and my wife can doom monitor MSNBC. I can't. I won't.

I try. I have cut way back on my news and opinion show consumption. That said, most of what I computer browse in a day has stuff popping up that is difficult for me not to click on. I love the bright and informed people here who bring in news items I hadn't seen - but sometimes something as short and simple as garrow's two sentence post spikes my blood pressure.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, because I don't like going back through 15 pages.

But even though it isn't going to happen, I find the mere invitation to be ... exceptional.

Trump brings back his habit of slobbing a dictator's knob on his very first day back in office.

Elmo is doing his best to get his quarter billion's worth before he gets thrown off of the island. I wonder how long Trump is going to be able to tolerate a guy who has much more money telling him what to do.

I do still wonder what Trump wants with his threat of more tariffs. Its an obvious negotiating ploy. We've already seen various oligarchs bend the knee to him. I don't know if Mexico, Canada or China really worry about the impacts to their economies. It will be far worse on ours.

That moment when the Chinese have greater respect for American political traditions than the former/incoming president

I thought that, but I now believe Xi won't come because attending strikes him as a sign of deference, which he ain't ever gonna give anyone. He'll invite Trump to visit him in Beijing instead.
