We should treat voting like we treat the census: make it as easy as possible with mail in, in person and absentee. Then have people who go door to door to drop off and collect ballots. Have three people do the door to door so there’s no funny business. Check signatures and the like. Give an option for businesses to have ballot collectors come to their place of work. Eliminate excuses. I don’t know if it helps Harris (it probably helps Hilary) but it might swing some congressional seats. Possibly the PA senate seat.

Totally agree. He's also totally right. Democrats/liberals snort derisively at Republicans/conservatives. It's our default mode, even after this.

And I know you know that some of those votes in November were "well, fuck you" votes.

Republicans/conservatives hate Democrats/liberals more than vice versa.

Dems don't vote for psycho rapist racist traitors merely because they "own the cons." Many studies show Dem policies are popular....but not Dems themselves or the party. Too feminine. Too diverse. Too "elite."

Dems pour money into red counties and states and it makes no difference. Dems routinely nominate military veterans in red states (and beyond) for various elected offices because they think it will help them win over conservatives (it never does).

Dems always make a show of being bipartisan and of wanting Republicans in their cabinets, The other side hates bipartisanship more than the emoluments clause or violence.

Dems tried all sorts of things to try to convince voters; listing all that Trump has done wrong, giving some ideas (Medicare to pay for elder care, money for down payments to buy houses etc.), and even copying the simplistic Republican playbook by repeating the same useless phrases over and over again (“weird”, “mind your own business”, etc).

But, you know, the price of eggs. And those scary handful of transgender athletes in female sports. And the War on Christmas.

And don't forget the Haitians. "They're eating the pets of the people who live there!"

They don’t even know how to turn it off after getting their way. Now they’re convinced “the drones” are coming to blow up the east coast or something. You may as well try and persuade the people receiving shock therapy on the psych world to change their entire worldview.

I don't think they necessarily do. They just don't take the "cons" seriously enough.

And the point is the reverse, that conservatives make abhorrent voting decisions because it's a matter of "owning the libs."

Silver is wrong. To say its not idiotic to support Trump, for a union member to support a party that is anti-union, for a veteran to support a party planning to cut veterans benefits, for a woman to support a party that restricts her healthcare options, for farmer to support a candidate who wants to removes a lot of their workers, and for consumers to support a candidate whose policy will raise prices....what reasons does that leave you to support Trump?
Now if you are a millionaire or billionaire, or heavy into crypto, of course you SHOULD support Trump.

I just looked at the exit poll data, which was shared across at least CNN and NBC. It, too, was way off, suggesting the poll participants were not representative of the total voting populace in the 10 states surveyed or they lied or both.
Exit poll data was 48.4% for Harris to 49.98% for Trump. The actual vote tallies in the 10 surveyed states were 45.7%-53.04%.

How much easier do you want to make it? We don't have Election Day, it's Election Month. In some place, Election Six Weeks. If you don't vote, you don't vote. But it's pretty damn hard not to vote.
