Immaculate grid

There was a grid the other day asking for Dominican players and I was able to use all four of the Alous.
Another one asking for Puerto Rican players allowed for all of the Alomars. Not sure if that was smart or lazy, but I thought it was pretty neat.

 

Today (4/27) was made for low scores. My new record of 9 on the baseball grid.

 

Set my all-time of 6 in Saturday's MLB grid, and with all Braves. No cheating, though I did "confirm" one match.

Pissed today. Something glitched and it counted a square wrong before I actually had the chance to answer it.

 

I screwed that one up when I had an all-timer going. I was "confirming," as you put it (and as I usually do) one of the Black Sox for the one team/100 RBI square and accidentally put him in when he didn't have the goods. Wound up with 8/9 and a score of 101.
It pissed me off, because those "one team" squares are always great for getting a <1 percent number. My pitched one game/one team box was a local guy who pitched one inning for the Astros. He got me .0006 percent.

 

My guaranteed low-percentage spots are a few guys from my hometown and a guy with whom I share a name.

 

Got a "2" today, but it was from an old grid. Got a new phone during the summer. I usually do the current grid and then do one more from the year or so gap there is between when I got the new phone and when IG started.

Have had several "2" days. I have had only one "1" ever, but it was on my now disposed of old phone, so I can't prove it.

 

I've got a few of those, plus some guys I've memorized from the early 1900s that I've come across. Most of the latter have great names that are easy to remember, like Muddy Ruel, Roger Peckinpaugh, Nemo Leibold, Homer Summa and George Metkovich.
You also have a bunch of guys named Grover that are fun to check on and plug in.
I think my favorite team pairing is Phillies-Cubs, because they have such a weird and long history when it comes to shared players. About 2/3 of the 1980 Phillies championship team was with the Cubs by 1982, but then there are also some Hall of Famers like Grover Cleveland Alexander, Chuck Klein and Richie Ashburn who played for both teams way back when.

 

I enjoy plugging in guys who played for teams that eventually moved and changed names. Like putting Rogers Hornsby as a Baltimore Oriole, even though he played for the St. Louis Browns. Or Bill (Spaceman) Lee as a Washington National. Or Eddie Brinkman (who thinks he’s a hitter for crissakes) as a Texas Ranger.

 

I always look back fondly on Walter Johnson's legendary run playing in the Metrodome with the Twins.

 

I do that as well. I can't remember the last time I put an actual Washington National in their box instead of an Expo. For some reason I have a mental block on Nationals but can remember most of the early 80s Expos' lineup.

One of the reasons I learned the names of Muddy Ruel, Roger Peckinpaugh and Nemo Leibold is that they were all on the 1924 Washington Senators' World Series team. I wanted to know a few "Twins" who would pop a nice rarity score, so I looked up that roster and found them.
Ruel also played for the Browns, so he's a double relocator.

 

Yep, and HOFer George Sisler was a Baltimore Oriole, an Atlanta Braves and a Minnesota Twin. Who knew?
