Also, the fault lies with SNL for those fucking cue cards anyway.
It never should have come to that. Cue cards are just chicken-shit.

SNL was rooted in improv magic. Get back to that, please.
Audiences hate any and all cues cards in good comedy work.

If you think cue card reading was ever a strength for Rock, watch some old Nat X sketches

I thought Lorne requires the cue card usage and always has.

They'll change sketches between dress and air, so you pretty much have to use cue cards. Also, much like Airplane and Naked Gun, I think pretty much none of the show has been planned improv over the years - It is meticulously scripted and written to feel like it isn't. Michaels likes performers with that improv background though, because they can usually gauge the crowd better and react to something live if needed.

Oh, I think I'm pretty clear that I think Rock is a brilliant social commentator. The fact remains is that he is a performance artist too, and his performance is sometimes ... strained.

I thought of Nat X during the monologue.

"Black History Month is February. Why? Cause the Man won't let us have 31 days."

I imagine Lorne’s lawyers absolutely do.

Laugh my butt off when he asked the audience how many men who brought their dates to the show thought they were going to get laid later that night. If so, he wanted his 10 percent.

The requisite five timers sketch, but still great. Loved the touch of Scarlett shoving Colin back out the door.

That made me laugh almost as hard as the true confessions bit.

I'm always a sucker for the song and dance numbers through the hallways backstage.

Those next in line for the club:

Could probably see Carvey or Driver be next. Lohan too since she appears to have cleaned up her act.
