I use Twitter for that. The tweets I've typed and then deleted without saving to drafts would definitely get me fired.

I still come here because I enjoy it. It'd be silly to frequent a place for 20 years if it made me miserable. It's always been great when a big story breaks. And good for blowing off steam. And most of all, for a laugh. There are some funny folks here.

I don't need my opinions to be shared with the world on social media. That's a landscape I've grown more and more sick of. For all the good things that it brought, the bad things outweigh those, for me at least.

My goodness. I just checked the stats. I've snuck into the top 10 in posts AND likes. I feel like an imposter.

But seriously, as I tend to do at this time of the year. Thanks for the sense of community you all provide. After leaving newspapers, this place has been my primary "fix" for the thing I loved best about newsrooms. The witty asides, dark humor, movie references, etc. that are the lingua franca - OR WERE the lingua franca of newsrooms before they decided they didn't need reporters anymore. Thanks everyone - hope the holiday season is good to you all, you've really helped ease my transition from "being" a journalist to just being someone who likes to know what is going on, enjoys spirited back and forth, and thinking about things in ways I've never considered.

    OOP is a compiler!!!!!

I'm proud that I'm #2 on the site in points, though. I have no idea what they are, and everyone else is seemingly tied in second place too.

I’m 10th in posts and ninth in likes. Been doing this since 2007, and some days, it’s hard to believe it’s been that long. Other days, it seems like yesterday.

I’m sure quite a few of my 42,704 previous posts have fallen flat, angered people and come off quite poorly. I’d also like to think that I’ve made some people laugh and maybe even make someone feel better if they’ve been going through a tough time personally.

I know this site has had an effect on my life. Thanks to this place, I began to think of an exit strategy from journalism, went back to school, and eventually, after a lot more years in journalism, was able to find a better job out of the business and have an actual work-life balance.

    Thanks y’all. Happy Holidays.

It's shocking how many of the top 10 haven't posted in years up to and including a decade.
I don't scratch the surface in volumes of posts, but I am ranked in likes.
I'm honestly here as a second incarnation. I was here during my sports writer days, took a 6-year hiatus, and forgot my log in credentials, so I had to start anew. That's ok because I am a much different person now than I was as a younger man... all for the better.
I lament that my interactions have seriously declined now that I have stepped aside from the daily rage, but again ... all for the better.

Damn, it’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since IJAG was around. Good person, great poster. RIP Secret Santa.

I'm a little surprised I wasn't on the first page on posts. About 4,000 posts shy of it.
