Just finished - what a great read and quality piece of journalism. Love the "Jets spokesman" chiming in to say the story was wrong at the end of every anecdote.

Feels like one of those cases where you are what you deserve to be, and the Jets deserve to be the running joke that they are.

I have been to maybe five NFL games as a fan. Every one of them featured at least one falling-down-drunk fan. The NFL fan is a different beast. And not in a good way.

That Jets spokesman rolling his/her eyes after getting a phone call every 30 minutes, for two days straight. I love it.

And every time he looked at his phone and saw who was calling, he had to be thinking, "Fuck, what did they find out now?"

May have told this story before here but I don't remember.

Last NFL game I went to was a Sunday night Steelers-Browns game in 2003. An ER doctor I was dating at the time (we can call her Dr. BYM2) split season tickets in the nosebleeds with a friend. I'm far from a Steelers fan but I'll go to any live sporting event and it was a time to hang out with her. Throughout the entire first half, Steelers played like complete ass as the Browns built a sizable lead. Meanwhile, the drunk chic from Baldwin or Wilmerding or....hell, maybe even White Oak was making it very well known that she was not happy with the play of Kordell Stewart.

"KORRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEDEWWWWWWWL YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!" She screamed throughout the entire first and second quarters.

Just one problem: Kordell had been traded in the offseason and the QB was Tommy Maddox.

Me, a buddy and my dad went to see the Raiders play in the Coliseum against the Lions in their final season in Oakland. Yes, tickets were close to $100 each, yes the food and beer prices were expensive and it wasn't as easy to follow the game as it was watching on TV, but hearing fans start the "RAAAAAAAIIIIIIDERRRS!!" chant while in the bathroom, or waiting in line for a hot dog - you don't get that on TV. hahahaha. Glad I went though - went to games with my parents as a kid and it was so special to do it one last time.

That Chargers defense leaves a lot to be desired.

Love the handwritten "RUN IT!!" at the top of Sean Payton's play sheet.

Chargers end the half with the NFL's first successful fair catch free kick since 1976.
