The news guild president was charged with a misdemeanor after he threw a chair during the first bargaining negotiations with the Post-Gazette since July, 2023:

Probably thought he was negotiating with Bobby Knight-Ridder.

 

Go read Zack Tanner's Twitter. He's a real beaut and probably a big reason why this contract hasn't been resolved. I know Fuoco needed to be removed as union president for his indiscretions but this isn't it.

 

Since there are only 20-30 guild members left, Tanner is probably the only one that wants to be guild president.

They might have settled their lawsuit, but the Block brothers are still in disagreement. John now wants to handle negotiations himself (but it's not his call). This from the strike website:

NLRB files for an injunction against the PG on behalf of the NewsGuild, which already has a favorable ruling from the full NLRB board.

Meanwhile, the other unions go back to court Jan. 8 on their injunction.
