Have to say by any objective metric, this season was better for Vol fans than last season.

But I sure was happier last year after a 35-0 Jan. 1 bowl victory than I am now, with the season kaput, a morose offseason to come and nothing to look forward to on Jan. 1 except for a damn sunset.

Then again, the last time Tennessee lost its final game 42-17 . . . the next season it won a national championship.

This is the odd downside of the playoff. Your season ends at the same time as the Myrtle Beach Bowl. Gonna take some adjusting.

So if there were no playoffs, let's say Tennessee and Ohio State play each other in the Sugar Bowl and the result is the same. Is that better than losing in the playoffs?
Somebody's going to lose their bowl game, too.

But half the teams will win their last game. Only 8.3% of playoff teams will.

I don’t think it should be controversial to say any of the three-loss SEC teams are better than IU or SMU. And it shouldn’t be controversial to say that none of them deserved a bid instead of the Hoosiers or Ponies.

I have no sympathy for ESPN and it’s sub-tenant getting disappointing Nielsen numbers when it boxed itself in with the Tuesday night beauty pageant for the sake of a cheap ratings boost.

Tennessee "deserved" its spot, but had Ole Miss and Alabama not gagged in November, UT wouldn't have gotten the spot. And wouldn't have deserved it.

And I don't see how anyone could not have seen last Saturday coming. That was the death quadrant of the bracket. Beat the most talented team in college football on the road , and winner gets the No. 1 team :eek::eek:. Penn State got the (relatively speaking) cupcake quadrant.

All four home teams won in blowouts. I know it's all gonna change in two years, and the atmosphere for those games was electric, but neutral sites make for fairer outcomes and better TV games, frankly.

Won’t be better TV when the first round crowds at the Alamo Bowl (guessing here) look like Tuesday afternoon at the Myrtle Beach Invitational.

Better team deserves a chance to play a game at home. Stop low-key trying to save the Poulan Weed Eater Independence Bowl.

Sadly, that cannot be saved as the Weed Eater is no longer manufactured.
Consider it an attempt to save the Gin and Juice LA Bowl Presented by Dre and Snoop.
