Just got back to the in-laws after seeing an old friend preach at a bigger town 30 minutes away. The brother-in-law has brought over a bottle of Rip Van Winkle. The o/u on drinks I’ll finish before he starts talking about how great Elon and RFK Jr are is set at 2 1/2.

LOL & JFC, fuck all those fake-ass, performative wrassler turd-snorters.

Tell me, adults still buy into this shit?
And we still have a live thread on that shit?

What exactly is the allure there for grown-ass males
with jobs requiring intelligence and a handle on reality?

Anyway, Happy Holidays to you all.
And especially for all of us here for 20 years or more!

Still and always love this site, because it's always a great day here. :)

I’m guessing Piper went off script there.

Office was quiet today with just a few coworkers. Phone barely rung. Sent out a few emails. Came home, had my parents and a few friends over. Oldest child brought his girl, who we’d met briefly a couple of times before, but hadn’t had much of a chance to talk to her. Seems nice. Had some wine, some good food. Santa has already visited. Gifts are all under the tree. Left some crumbs and a drop of milk with his thank you note. Menorah is set up for the first night tomorrow.

TV remote is getting some exercise flipping between the adventures of George Bailey and Angel Second Class Clarence and the Hawaii Bowl.

    Happy Holidays, y’all.

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I'm at a point where the greatest gift I get for the holidays is a chance to sleep. :) Its been an exhausting month working five 12s, transferring to a new job at a new site with zero assistance or guidance from HR, and an expensive car repair, family drama, and cruddy weather out this way.

But I consider myself fortunate to be able to survive it all.

I'm just getting my last load of laundry done. Had a breakfast with my mother's husband's family after wrapping up my last shift for a few days and tried to grab some sleep.

Will try to get some more sleep ... not sure if I'll try too hard to flip my body clock, though it's more tempting with a few days off. No gifts to worry about - we've had one real Christmas the last 7-8 years ... NOT my idea and, frankly, I'm against it because none of us are materialistic, keep score or put ourselves in financial peril over the holiday - so it's about meeting up for an early-afternoon meal Wednesday with family and perhaps traveling east to visit some friends who, in the warmest way possible, have long said that I'm family. Not worthy of their comments or feeling, but grateful. Fortunate.

Will probably work at least one holiday, maybe two, freelance in the days after Christmas. That's still fun, especially when I no longer have to concern myself with a livelihood should this publishing company do another stupid thing (though I worry about the people still associated with this horrible company. Every one of them, similar to lots of your former colleagues, deserve better from the idiot overlords).
