This minute alone disproves that. :)

Not when it's butchered like this. Absolutely disgraceful. This should result in a flogging in Ireland.

God bless Jon Bon Jovi, who got more out of less than anyone in musical history. He was a dime a dozen one-hit hair metal wonder who somehow created multiple no. 1 hits, which convinced him we needed to hear His Serious Side. We do not.

We rewatched the Update joke swap during Christmas brunch hosted my my wife's step-sister. It was somehow even funnier the second time around.

I've gotten so behind on SNL. I jumped back in with the Martin Short episode. Really good from start to finish. And the joke swap was better than ever, and it's always been great.

Where to Jost/Che rank on the all-time Update anchors? Gotta be up there, right? I think I'll always be partial to Tina Fey... but it's close.

These rankings are only from when I began watching in the late '80s. Haven't seen enough outside of clips to fully judge the first dozen or so seasons. (Why Peacock doesn't just run full eps is beyond me, I'd watch the shit out of those)

1.) Norm MacDonald: The perfect anchor. Made bad jokes funny. Made great jokes into shit you are still telling 30 years later.
2.) Tina Fey/Amy Poehler: Perfect chemistry & pairing, just like no. 3, but I give them the edge here b/c of the momentous teaming up of two female anchors (your MAGA friends call it DEI).
3.) Colin Jost/Michael Che: I wouldn't argue with them at no. 2 and might vault them there eventually given they are the longest-tenured anchor team in Update history.
4.) Dennis Miller: The first anchor I watched was great and introduced me to what Update should be. His descent into right-wing moronism is disappointing.
5.) Seth Meyers/Amy Poehler: Another great pairing with fun chemistry.
6.) Meyers solo: He was very good, I just liked him more with a partner.
T7.) Seth Meyers/Cecily Strong and Cecily Strong/Colin Jost: The chemistry was fine with both teams, just didn't last long enough. I thought Cecily deserved to keep the desk w/Jost but Lorne or whomever made the decision was correct, she was too good to not use on multiple skits per night.
8.) Tina Fey/Jimmy Fallon: Cause Fallon SUCKS.
9.) Kevin Nealon: Had the very dry delivery and visage that should have crushed it here, but it just didn't work.
10.) Colin Quinn: Big fan of Quinn, but this never felt like it was ever close to succeeding.

    No Chevy Chase/Jane Curtin?

Think I pretty much agree on all. Very hard to argue with Norm. I might make him and Tina 1 and 1a.

I didn’t hate Fallon with Fey. Though it’s very easy for me to retrospectively hate Fallon for his body of awfulness.

Che has been talking about leaving for a while. I’m guessing there will be major cast changes after the 50th season.

I was just doing anchors I've seen live. Haven't seen enough of the pre-late '80s members to rank them. Again, Peacock, just fucking show every episode uncut!!!!

Can't forget the stalwart two-week run of Poehler/Sanz after Tina gave birth in 2005.

Speaking of Update, I was browsing some of its history last night and never knew (or forgot) about the audience member who interrupted a WU in 2004 to try to talk with Fallon from the bleachers.

Other than overactive teenage girls cheering for the pop idols (that annoying girl in the Timberlake/Aidy Bryant Wrappingville sketch), I can't believe there haven't been more instances of the show being disrupted over 50 years of live broadcasts.

Now I want to know what joke he was getting ready to make about Trump and Melania’s engagement.
