Given that Boris has a team that's two months old with a handful of employees and little Daytona experience, he did a hell of a job. I bet his sponsor noticed ...

I went with Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon ... left Gordon on my bench.

That road course last week kicked my butt in fantasy racing. ...

The "C" drivers list is just horrendous.

For those who have been around the NASCAR scene, thought you'd like to know that Rick Minter of the Atlanta paper suffered a mild stroke this week. He's already out of the hospital, which is good. No word on how long he'll be sidelined.

Rick is a very good dude. I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Wow, that's really distressing news. Glad to hear is sounds on the mild side, but it's still scary. I was part of the Cox chain at my last paper and found Rick to be an excellent, very nice guy.

    Thanks for posting this...

Rick is easily one of my favorite people in the media center. Always gracious, quick to laugh, a great guy. I e-mailed him yesterday morning, and he said he was still "pretty wobbly."

My thoughts are, and have been, with him.

NEWS: Chip Ganassi is bringing back Juan Montoya to drive the #42 Havoline car next year, as announced just now.

PREDICTION: He'll never win a race. Ganassi's NASCAR effort has never been a front-line operation.

He's gung-ho about it, at least, 2much. Chip said it came together in less than a week. JPM called him, said "I want to drive that car." Chip said, "Seriously?" and JPM said "Yep."

    Done deal.

I saw this on ESPN.com just now. Wow, that's pretty big, isn't it? How many non-North American drivers have ever driven in NASCAR? Can't be more than a handful, right?

Moddy, they decided to move up the race this morning due to an impending rain storm, and Dave Blaney beat in a really big upset. Amazing!

    Damn.

Don't look it up - off the top of your head (honor system).
What is Dave Blaney's career best finish?

JPM's smart, at least. No good open seats in Champ Car or IRL, his F1 options were extremely limited and the combination of the lack of available talented Cup drivers and the lack of young talent in the Busch family series meant this was the best option available for either party.

I'll guess that Blaney got a top five when he was driving well two years ago in the last half of the season. So...fourth? I'll look it up now, but I won't post it here until others have guessed.
