Best rapper out now is Papoose.

Funny you mention Papoose, who one friend mentions like crazy. He told me to look up his alphabet rap, but I can't find it anywhere on iTunes. Basically he raps material from A-Z, then he goes backward through the alphabet with all new material. This friend said he would burn me a copy.

Only place I've heard Papoose so far is on the "Touch It" remix for Busta Rhymes.

Eat A Peach has a live version of "Midnight Rider." Not much difference, eh?

Have you checked out Honeytribe, the band led by Gregg's son, Devon? Pretty good stuff.

Also, the ABB website, www.allmanbrothersband.com has a ton of live CDs from their shows over the last couple of years. Those are excellent as well.

    ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Solid for the first five songs. Not impressed w/much after that. A bit of a disappointment. Hopefully it will grow on me, but I'm thinking bloop single rather than extra bases for this one.

Trouble No More, Mountaiun Jam, and One Way Out appeared first on "Eat a Peach" in 1972 but were recorded at the same March 12-13, 1971 shows that made up their "Fillmore East" records. A bit of a show, wouldn't you say?

The Papoose song you're referring to is called Alphabetical Slaughter.

Fenian, did you write any of those reviews? If so, well done. And a strong job tying in the Fillmore East shows here on this thread. The live version of Come on Baby Let's Go Downtown is tremendous. Just as special as Neil and Danny play guitar on Cowgirl in the Sand and Down by the River, so are their vocals on Downtown on "Tonight's The Night." The rest of the NY&CH Fillmore East show is supposed to be released as part of Neil's archives release. I actually thought your "Finally!" comment meant the 20-year wait for Neil's archives had ended.

BTW, I did not know that Ry Cooder appeared on "Crazy Horse." Quite a lineup.

For some reason, I'm digging Rick Ross a lot right now. I haven't heard much Papoose ...

  10. I bought the vinyl Crazy Horse on the strength of a great Ed Ward review in Rolling Stone and I ended every edition of my college radio show with "Crow Jane Lady," which you would know was Ry Cooder on slide from two miles away.

Papoose is more underground right now and doesn't get much airplay. He recently aligned himself with Violator. He's about to drop his 15th mixtape, but no album yet. He's very lyrical. check out his website, papooseonline.com. He's better than all these commercial rappers rhyming about nothing.

There's a mixed CD I got at a Scion kiosk. Great driving music.
