David Aldridge has confirmed that Ray Melick will become the new columnist at the Birmingham News... more to come.

  3. I know Kyle Veazy is not interested in the job.

kyle veazey would kick butt on that beat. might even give the T-news a run for their money. and no, I'm not kyle. I'm a better golfer than kyle.
What about that beaudry dude. Sounds like he would own that beat if you could get him away from the card table, where he always has an extra ace lying around.

I very nearly applied, just because I had a good cover letter idea. I don't want the job, but I wouldn't want a good cover letter idea go to waste

How on earth do you get to SEC Media Days without having this job filled?

He's been on that beat for two years - butt-kicking yet to commence.

Covering bama as a beat from decatur is slightly different that covering it at the bham news.
    he'd probably turn into a homer,though.

He's been in Decatur a few months more than one year and he's done all right for himself. Carry on.

  10. Well I saw a lot of people from the Birmingham Sports staff - Ray Melick, Jon Solomon, Doug Segrest, Dave Knox and Kevin Scarbinsky among others - at Media Days.

I'm assuming they covered Bama with Solomon and Melick or even Segrest.

Doug Segrest includes Dave Knox AND Kevin Scarbinsky?
Knew he was getting bigger, but day-um...

I heard the list of interviewees and it's a really nice group. They're going to get a good reporter regardless.

I won't reveal my personal choice. Real effin studs don't need pimps.
