Rush Propst needs to discover salads

  2. SoCal powers Mission Viejo and Mater Dei just staged a war. Mater Dei wins 17-14 when Mission's kicker misses 30-yard field goal.

Here's a question for youse guys:

Let's say a very well-known fringe area running back has been suspended from his team. Coach is vague about what happened. You trip upon a police report that said the kid was busted for a DUI by the hometown team's hick PD.

They admit it, then inform the coach that media has called. He calls your reporter and threatens a coaching boycott if we move with it.

It's still being worked with...it was near deadline, it's a fringe area school that sells probably 10 papers a week, but the kid is a household name. Another area paper about your size knows about it and has sat on it.

    The kid is an adult.

    What is your move?

In the scenario you mention ... pull the trigger. Post-haste.

We have fringe schools that are served by other dailies with practical full-time beat writers, and we've gone in and punked them several times on stories.

Blast, the one time I want to do something on a Friday I can't because of Friday night football. The sooner this is over the better.

:), I remember that. Did anyone catch the speech by Propst after their first loss?

P.S. Rich Propst is the high school version of Charlie Weis. A cocky fat guy.

    And Friday night basketball.

I had a freak night off on a Friday last year and didn't know what to do.

Folks, the football score of the night:

    In Oklahoma:

    Valliant 3, Savanna 2.

    It's a final.
