I'm definitely not Aaron, but I second SuperDeuce's thoughts. He's almost always a very entertaining read.

 

I wish I had known that a couple years ago. I'm not a huge fan of Indian food, but we ate at Frank Beamer's restaurant and it was the worst meal I'd had in years. We were almost done and I was thinking that the coach probably just sold his name to a restauranteur and has nothing to do with it, when in walked the coach with about 10 people, and they sat a few tables away. I said to my irritated wife, "There's the coach." She said, "How do you know?" I said, "That's his picture on the wall over there." I felt like going over and telling Beamer, "Your prime rib has no taste. It doesn't taste bad. It doesn't taste good. It just doesn't have any taste at all. The bread is stale, the salad is limp and even the iced tea blows. I hope you lose every game for the rest of your life." But my wife wouldn't let me.

 

If it makes you feel any better, Frank, it sounds like the Beamer's you ate at closed down. And it was just a guy Beamer had sold his name to, but apparently, he's re-opened a restaurant closer to campus in Christiansburg. I heard him talking about this on an ACC teleconference recently as well.

Wait a minute, Jeff.

I'll take at other people's word that you are a decent guy and that Roanoke is a great place to live.

But Roanoke "in the heart of ACC country" ? Chapel Hill is in the heart of ACC country. Washington, DC might be in the heart of ACC country, because Maryland is near and you can get a train to ACC places.

There might be a lot of ACC fans there, but Roanoke isn't very close to ACC colleges, which are spread from Miami to Boston. That's like saying Atlantic City is in the heart of Philadelphia.

Roanoke isn't even an aorta of ACC country. Maybe an important blood vessel of ACC country, but not the heart.

 

Roanoke is within about three hours of six or seven ACC schools, including less than a half an hour to Va. Tech.

And I'll echo the sentiments on Aaron McFarling. He's really good, every time a big-time columnist gig opens up I wonder if he might get it. Of course I don't know Aaron well enough to know if he even wants to leave Roanoke.

Gold ... Blacksburg is 30-40 minutes from Roanoke; Charlottesville two hours; Winston-Salem is two and change; RDU another hour past that. Yeah, with VT joining the ACC, I'd say Roanoke is right in the heart of ACC country.

 

Okay, who got the gig?
And while I'm not from anywhere near "ACC Country", it would seem to me that any place from Boston to Miami can be considered ACC country now. Roanoke, however, doesn't seeem like ACC country. Even if you consider V-Tech, that area is new to the ACC, right? Roanoke, is Big East country, historically, I'd imagine. I've heard good things about this shop and Landmark. Good job 4 whomever landed this. Can you move up to Greensboro or Norfolk from there?

 

Greensboro may be a better shot than Norfolk but nothing is impossible.
