Didn't mean to imply I have one, there. I bought a 4G Nano for $100 bucks from a guy who'd bought it about a month earlier and thought it was too small.

I would disagree, Pastor. The Shuffle, which I bought for my boyfriend for Christmas, is a small clip-on that makes it very easy to use when working out without having to buy an armband or whatever. It holds plenty of music for the longest workout, and is lightweight and handy.

Is it as good as a 10GB player from someone else? No. But for 1GB? It's perfect.

I have a Shuffle and its perfect for what I want. Holds 1G of music - 200 or so songs depending on length and its size is amazing. I use it working out and clip it on to my shirt or shorts, no problem

what it doesn't have is the screen, but seeing as its my music and in a manageable number, I don't need it. Like the size and affordibility

I believe the program you need is called "CopyPod" and reviews/instructions about it can be found on www.methodshop.com. I used it once when my portable hard drive died, and it was a fairly pain-free way to rip everything back from the IPod to the computer. I think it costs $20, but I can't remember.

I used PodUtil, which has a free 10-day trial.

I read all about it here: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-computer/

It was super easy for me.

Amazing enough, everyone who owns an iPod at work worked today. One guy has the regular ($250 and holds 5,000 songs) while another has the Nano ($150 and holds 500 songs). Holding and using both, I liked the Nano much better, no question.

Besides, it's not like I can't switch CDs and songs on and off the thing. Seems like a good option in between.

I got the 8G Nano ($249 and holds 1,000 songs). I have about 5G on it right now.

I've never understood the continued obsession with iPods. Maybe I'm just missing something, and if so, I'd welcome the education.

But can't you get other mp3 players that hold as much music and do all the things an iPod can for much cheaper? And aren't many of those players much more durable than an iPod?

    What am I missing here?

For me, it's a matter of my computer illiteracy. I know how to use iTunes. I know iPod is compatible with that. Therefore, that's what I got.

yes, I looked at others. But I have no idea what an mp3 vs. an mp4 vs an AAC or whatever it is is. So I went iPod and made it easier on myself.

The shuffle is $83.74 after all shipping costs are accounted for.

That right there is the root of its dominance in the market.

I love my black and red U2 model.
