2008 Running Pro Wrestling Thread

Dolph Ziggler is one of those heels that makes you want to get in the ring and chair shot his skull. That's good for the WWE. Obviously, beating up Santa Haas after he already pinned him was a way to further his heel status. Good job there by the WWE.

Regal and Punk should be a great match. Both are very good wrestlers.

They are seemingly building up HBK vs. JBL for a big WrestleMania match. And although the storyline sucks, if anyone can pull it off it's Michaels. Over the past five years, nobody has had as many high-profile, enticing feuds. Not even close. Hopefully he can make something with this material. The crowd seems pretty into it.

Like the Kelly-Kane story. It gives them both something to do and presents a storyline opportunity for a face at the Rumble.

Love Jericho thinking he's too good to wrestle Hacksaw.

Hate this Dolph Ziggler guy. Intrigued by Slim Snuka.

ECW was solid tonight. Quality wrestling program they have established over there with great commentary based on actual in-ring action.

I'd like to hope that HBK's last match will be against someone other than JBL. You know when HBK decides to retire, he'll get a going-away party like Flair did at this year's WrestleMania.

As sad as it might be, his last match should be against Bret Hart. Will never happen though. However, that being said, I think they'll put HHH in the role of unwilling participant for that one.

That's what I was thinking. HHH and HBK have such a long history, I think they'll just play it off as a face vs. face match much like what the Flair/HBK match was portrayed as at WM.

Think they'd put the strap on one of them so that there's motivation for HBK to go out as a champion. To be honest here, HBK, isn't one of my favorite wrestlers anyway.

You don't need to like HBK, but I think everyone respects him for what he's done.

No doubt HBK has had a great career, Kevin, I'm just saying that when he retires, it's not going to mean much at all to me as a pro wrestling fan. This current storyline, a takeoff on The Wrestler, will certainly be less impressive than Rourke's portrayal in the movie.

Who says HBK is retiring?

The last few years have probably been the highlight of his career, which is saying something.

I think HBK's WWE time is no more than two Wrestlemanias -- as a full time wrestler. I don't put it past him to be a special ref or something, but one reason why the retirement stuff starts up is because WM is in Houston in 2009. Taker's another one IMO. In fact, how about HBK-Taker as the finale for both guys?

It sounds great, as long as Michaels is willing to job for his last match. For Taker, he might be willing to, because even during his super-selfish phase, he still respected the dead man.

OK, so let's say HBK and Taker are done at WM '09 and will face each other. Who jobs? And why?

Dumb question, but have Taker and HBK ever wrestled each other in a big PPV match? They had to at some point in the 90s, right?
