Hardy's theme sounded like the Smashing Pumpkins to me.

  2. Little person abuse!

Guess it's JBL vs Finlay at Mania. Where that leaves Jericho, who knows.

That backwards toss into the cage wall was fierce.

    Probably in the MITB.

I love Beth Phoenix's old school theme music.

    Santino Marela is a joke.

I used to think Michelle McCool was goddess-like. Now I'm starting to rank Maria ahead of her.

I look better in shorts than JBL. The man has breasts for god's sake.

This may be the first time in years that McMahon actually got into the ring during a scuffle and walked out on his own power.

When the hell has MVP actually had a title defense? He's lost so many matches - when did he win anything?

Anyone else catch the missed spot in the Hardy-Snitsky MITB qualifying match?

Hardy gets Irish whipped into the turnbuckle, slows up to jump on top of the turnbuckle and hit a moonsault. Snitsky inexplicably charges and forces Hardy to completely miss with the moonsault. Snitsky sells it, though, and badly.

The WWE crowds are so lobotomized now that they didn't even acknowledge the fuck-up.

    Armageddon: Jericho buried.
Royal Rumble: Jericho in a draw.
No Way Out: Jericho takes up a spot.
Raw, the day after: Jericho not even there.

WTF? I guess his best days are behind him. What did he come back for?

    HHH/Orton/Cena at WM24. Yawn.

Edge/Undertaker ... now make this the final main event.

Candice is back, and Maria gets pushed because she's showing her tits. Mickie James drops one spot lower toward the WCW Thunder roster. Yawn.

HBK ... also left without much to do.

I'm glad VKM has 40+ days to think of some angles to make it worth my $50 next month.

Maybe Jericho should jump to SD and feud with Edge and win Goldy. Then, he should jump back to Raw, have a unification bout with the Champ and become the Undisputed World Champion again. At least he'll be used then. And one other thing, get JBL out of the ring and back in the booth. I can't stand JBL in the ring, but i love him as commentator.

Mayweather beating up The Big Slow was pretty entertaining, but they should have just left it at that. I have a feeling the Mayweather-Big Slow feud will be short-lived (no pun) and play to a chorus of boos in many arenas.

Also, I'm with the other two that say Katie Lea is not all that great. There are at least a dozen chicks in WWE/ECW that I'd take over her.

Why in the world did they have Show flinch when Mayweather reared back? Dumb. Show's huge. Mayweather would have to stick to body shots like mad.

Plus, that's the biggest pop I've ever heard Show get on TV, face or heel. The guy's in the best shape he's been in since 1997. Time to use the man in the right way. If he's back, don't Jericho him. Get him over and get him over quickly.

While I'm on a roll and watching Raw on the DVR, a few points.

    - The reason the WM main event doesn't work for anyone? A lack of proactive booking. Planning ahead, or at least making it look like you've planned ahead.

Think back to Starrcade '97. The Hogan-Sting angle was played up for so much of 1997 without the two facing off one-on-one very often, if at all. Everyone knew, though, that a Hogan-Sting match was coming. It was just a matter of time. Meanwhile, WCW built it up so well that you flat-out couldn't wait to see it. Even though a Sting win was a foregone conclusion, there was still so much interest that WCW crowds would flat-out go ape shit on Nitro when Sting descended from the ceiling.

If it's a foregone conclusion that Cena will win the strap back at WM, at least play it up right. Cena won the Rumble? Cena goes to 'Mania to face Orton. They don't face off at No Way Out. They don't sorta battle each other in tag matches with other main-eventers. You barely let 'em face off at all, except for the last two minutes of Raw or something like that. Have a lame-assed contract signing. Vignettes like crazy. That's two solid months of build-up to a one-on-one, no-gimmick match for the strap.

You don't determine a WrestleMania main event the night after the preceding PPV.

    - Apparently, Vince wants to be the WWE chairman...and a Raw midcarder? Uh...OK. Why?

    - Where did Big Show's excess weight go? Right to Super Crazy's gut.

    - God damn it, I love Santino Marella. The mic skills, the perfect bad-guy theme that makes you just want to hate him from the first note...make the guy someone's manager or give him another run with the IC strap when Hardy finally gets his main-event shot.

    - When was the last time we had a good old-fashioned swerve? Wouldn't you just LOVE to see Trip, Cena and Orton beat the Hell out of each other in the main event...and watch Trip lay down for Orton or vice versa while Cena's out of commission outside the ring? There's a solid build-up to a SummerSlam main event. Cena, screwed over in two consecutive main-event matches, against either Trip or Orton (with the other at ringside) for the title at SS.

If you remember though, the end result of Starrcade was a flop. I'm still waiting for the name of the unnamed 'judge' who was holding up the video replay of the tape for the next night's Nitro. That show effectively spelled the beginning of the end for WCW (along with the Fingerpoke of Doom). Goldberg's rise kept WCW up for '98, but that was it after that.

Agreed that Cena/Orton hasn't had a great build-up. They've made Orton look weak for his entire title reign.

Santino is fantastic on the mic, and should be a manager. They need to bring back managers with their own stables, like in the '80s. Flair could be a manager too. He could manage a main-event guy (like Umaga), and a tag team (Like Haas and Benjamin). Managers serve a big purpose when a wrestler is bad on the mic. Too bad the WWE has more or less done away with the role (No one cares about Matt Striker).

One thought on the RAW main event: Why, as the referee, would Trips want to give Cena a chance to win? He's had too many heel turns to be a true babyface. Trips should have just beat on Cena, then let Orton pin him.
