The way I look at it (right or wrong), Alabama has one thing Florida doesn't: an undefeated record. I think Florida has way more talent, especially at the skill positions. Without having looked at the stats, I'd say the two defenses are pretty close. At quarterback, it's not close. At all. And that could end up being the difference. If JPW plays like the JPW of old, it could be a rout.

Florida has a loss, yes, but it also has a few dominating wins in games that are usually pretty close (Georgia, South Carolina, LSU). Bama's best wins are against Clemson and Georgia, both of which were highly overrated this year. The LSU win? Pfft. If LSU has even a half decent quarterback, Bama goes down. Some see Bama's slew of close games as an advantage. I see it as them not having the ability to put teams away, which is well documented in Bama's performance in the second halves of games this year. Just awful.

Basically, if JPW doesn't suck like I'm expecting him to, Bama will keep it relatively close. If he blows up, Florida wins in a rout. Either way, I like the Gators as the best team in the country right now and in the SEC title game.

I don't really care what happened in past years involving these two teams. I don't really care how the SEC has performed in certain games before this year. My opinion is based on what has happened this year.

There's "beat their asses into the ground, then paved said ground" victories and then there's "got away with skin still intact and major organs functioning" victories.

    Simple.

    Alabama 41, Georgia 30......Florida 49, Georgia 10
    Alabama 27, LSU 21 in OT......Florida 51, LSU 21.

    Any other questions?

I wasn't quite going there; I meant more along the lines of if they met today....

Interesting thought. I think Ohio State obviously makes it a better game today, but not sure it could win. Perhaps, though. I'd watch.

USC against Ohio State today with Pryor with 7 games under his belt and a healthy Wells.

Would be a good game. I still think USC's defense rattles Pryor. But maybe not because they'd have to play against the run of Wells, too.

Maybe this is the one game that would be a great rematch for a BCS game.

    I'll play ...

    Ole Miss 31, Florida 30
    Alabama 24, Ole Miss 20

Comparative scores do go both ways.

I've never said otherwise. What's your point? In fact, I've stated that I cannot argue with people who put Alabama ranked first right now. Do I think Florida's the best team? Yes. Do I think Alabama should be ranked first? Again, yes.

And again.....none of the Florida vs. Bama (who's better or where should they be ranked?) matters right now. They'll play soon enough and the answers will be obvious.

That some will punish Alabama for close scores but not punish Florida for a loss.

They're called opinions. You have yours. Others have theirs.

In other words, he doesn't have a defense.

And in my book, winning all of your games is much more important than winning most of them by wide margins.
