Same here. Had the Horns No. 1 in the last poll, and that's where they'll stay.

Well, sorry, USC fanboy, but here is my rationale:

No one in the world played the kind of four-game stretch Texas did this year. From October 11 until November 1 (without any weeks off between games), the Longhorns beat the number one team in the country by 10 on a neutral field; the number 11 team by 25 at home; and the number six team by four at home.

They then came within one second of beating the number seven team in the country on the road. That team, Texas Tech, then spent three weeks as Numero Uno until losing to that previous number one (Oklahoma) that had already lost to the Longhorns.

Every team in the country is flawed. Every conference in the country is flawed. There is no one else that can say they were as impressive during such a difficult stretch as Texas. That gets my vote.

    Don't like it, oh well.

not a usc fanboy, but thanks for the label. fact is that 4 week stretch you mention is looking like a lot of mediocre teams right now. way to go texas! way to barely beat okie state. way to lose to overrated texas tech! way to beat mizzou! maybe you should stick to hockey.

Yeesh. Not sure I can recover from that one. Always amused by people who resort to personal shots over a football poll.

Fact is, you've been voting USC all the way, so you have a bias. They both have one loss. The Longhorns' came to a team that spent a portion of the season as number one. A team they beat is playing for the national championship. The Trojans' loss came to a team that lost four times, including its big rivalry game 65-38. I think USC's a great team, but if you think Texas' schedule is garbage, I shudder to hear what you think of USC's. I'd vote for them as number one -- in the Big Ten.

Elliotte, so if Florida runs Oklahoma by 20, it won't have any impact in your poll?

    Rumple,

It might. I actually was going to delete my post and wait, but Angola had already gone loco, so I felt I needed to explain my position. So, the answer is yes. It would take an emphatic victory, but it could happen.

elliotte (got it right this time), i voted for usc early on and then backed off before hopping back on. yeesh i wish usc would've played utep and rice rather than virginia and ohio state in their nonconference schedule then you'd maybe take a look at those sorry boys from troy.

If Florida wins, they'll be my top team. If they lose, it'll be Utah. I've thought for most of the year that Florida was the top team in the country, but not if they lose two games they're not.

I'm voting for Oklahoma if it wins. The Big 12 is the bestest conference EVAR!
