I'm going to say that it's way too much LSU love. They barely won against Mississippi State and also barely won on the road in Washington. I know the SEC is the Garden of Eden of college football and Washington is your friend's cute little sister that grew up really fast only to have her heart broken, but come on people!

I dated Washington when I was in college and she was in high school...

Did it work out for you? Or did you have to get a buddy to come get you out of jail when her dad found out?

Did you ever see Animal House, when Larry Kroger (played by Slap) picked up Clorette DePasto, the mayor's 13-year-old daughter, (played by Washington)?
    'Bout like that.

Olympia was fine when I dated Washington, tho her brother/my buddy Oregon was always fine with it, but slightly leery. I remember heading to their house so Oregon and I could go bar hopping when we were home on break one night after she broke up with me (which I found out from my brother before she told me), that "Washington looked great; I needed to leave her alone..."
Still, I was in college and Olympia was in high school. Her husband gets a 42-year-old Washington aging daily; I will always have 16-year-old Washington. I win.

Dools: Cal is too low? After getting its ass kicked by 39?

Nebraska went to Blacksburg and lost on a last-second bomb from Tyrod. That's a little better than Sun Belt play. Many have gone there and lost much worse.

If a team starts the season ranked in the top 10, you don't drop it totally out at this point until the second loss, and a lot of folks obviously did.

If I based my weekly ballot on the prior week's SJ poll, you might have a valid point ... if, in fact, Cal started the season in our top 10.

But this week's poll is not my basepoint for next week's ballot, just like last week's aggregate poll wasn't my basepoint for this week's ballot. I know where I had a given team originally; at 24th on my ballot this week, Cal is slightly below its preseason starting point of 19th. I may have overvalued them based on their early games. This week, they lost by 39 to, were held to less than half their offensive average by and gave up 524 offensive yards to Oregon---a team I had at 9th in my preseason ballot. If anything, last weekend's Cal-Oregon game convinced me I was on the right track in the preseason.

Not the board's poll, your personal poll. In this case, in the poll I do for shits and grins, I'm not going to be a yo-yo and end up giving Cal a big boost back up if they beat USC after dropping them a ton. I'm going to be boosting them up a few spots, because I didn't drop them through the floor based on one game. I'm going to trust my preseason research.

I had Cal 10th in my preseason poll. They rose to, I think, sixth, before I dropped them to 20th this week.

Penn St., for example, started out sixth and is now 18th in my poll.

I had Penn St., Ole Miss and Cal in that order last week, and they are Nos. 18, 19 and 20 this week.
