Went toe-to-toe with Alabama, leading going into the fourth quarter at and SEC venue. Beat Nebraska. Whipped the 'Canes. All in all, I like how the Hokies tested themselves and played well in every game along the way. Even against Nebraska, they buckled down in the red zone, forced field goals and did what they had to do.

That's having a belief that both Nebraska and Miami are good teams. I am not of that opinion.

VT homer here, but still.....if the choices are good and bad, Miami and Nebraska are good teams.

I'm more inclined to believe mediocre, especially for Miami.

tech emerging with a 3-1 record with that sked is impressive.

If you think Neb. and Miami are good it is impressive.
The opening game with Alabama really sticks outs to me.

If you play a top 3 team in what might as well be Alabama's backyard and are leading 17-16 after three quarters, I think you've proven you are a worthy team. I don't see that as a bad loss at all.

'Cept the game was four quarters long and Va. Tech was BADLY outscored to lose by 10.

Yeah, but UF did what they were supposed to do and blew them out, along with everybody else on their slate, 'cept UT.

Good, bad, medicore, average, above average, below average....the definiton of each of those changes from person to person.

Say what you want -- and I've bashed VT as much as anyone lately -- but to beat Nebraska and Miami after taking that whipping against Bama is pretty damn impressive. Granted, both were at home, and its toughest test will come on the road at Georgia Tech, but you can't intelligently say that VT's 3-1 start isn't impressive.

I would venture that VT has the "best" loss of any of the 1 loss teams.
