They go hand-in-hand, really. I've always liked Kane's character, but hated when they took his mask off a few years back. It took some of the fear factor associated with Kane, especially considering I was 11 or 12 when Kane debuted and scared the living crap out of me.

Kane has slowly but surely evolved into a good worker for his size the last few years. And one of the Internet writers (Meltzer or Keller, I forget who) notes that because he spent so long in a mask and without a voice, he learned how to convey emotion without using facial or vocal cues, and that made him a much better promo and able to sell even ridiculous shit (like this Taker coma stuff) stunningly well.

Longshot prediction: Swagger and Rey have their match, Kane comes out to watch, teasing that he'll cash in on Swagger if he wins, but he attacks Swagger during the match, allowing Rey to win. Everyone figures that's that, but Kane brutalizes Rey, cashes in and wins the title. Then he reveals at Smackdown (or even as a special appearance on Raw) that he was the one to hurt Undertaker and that he's never coming back. Eventually Taker returns and they meet at Survivor Series (since Taker doesn't appear to be ready to go for SummerSlam)

I liked him better with the mask, as well. I've actually heard it was his idea to take the mask off, as he had a receding hairline and the mask made it hard for him to breathe or something. It was a bit disappointing to see that the guy looked pretty much normal after building up how jacked up his face was for all those years.

As always with Kane, having him win MITB seems like a waste. If the goal is to have him feud with Rey and take the belt it seems like they could have accomplished that AND given someone else (Kofi or McIntyre, perhaps) the rub of having the MITB title shot a couple months down the road.
Good for the guy for winning. He deserves a title run after 10 years of being a reliable worker and a borderline main eventer. Plus, there wasn't anyone in the Smackdown match that, on the surface, seems ready to make the leap to champion right now. Still, on some level this feels like a swing and a miss.

    Rey retains, Kane cashes in.

    Good for Kane.

Unfortunately, this sets up Taker to return and automatically vault right into the title picture. Taker is right on track for his four matches per year quota.

Also, seven MITB winners, seven new champs.

When will the first MITB winner NOT win the title?

Was Rey's head 10 inches from the ground on that tombstone?

And we have a new world heavyweight champ.

Saw that coming. Though he missed that tombstone by a good 6 inches.

What else is left on this card? Anything worth watching?. I'm thinking about shutting down the laptop and calling it a night.
