Similar to what happened with Raw's top matches, word is the Smackdown match was supposed to be Kane-Undertaker, Part 2353462364, but Taker is not ready to return from injury yet.

Kane and Undertaker have certainly feuded a ton over the years, but it seems like it's been a while. What is the statute of limitations before you can revisit a longstanding feud without it being a rehash? Two years? Three?

I have a feeling Kane will face Undertaker at Wrestlemania, and then will call it a career.

  5. There's a site or two that's reporting that Trips tore his biceps muscle (yet again) and could be sidelined through at least mid-December, if not longer. With a third child on the way from Steph, you have to wonder if it's time he starts to step aside and let Orton, Cena, Miz and Sheamus take the spotlight.

...and I'll take an early guess that Hart swerves to become leader of the Nexus.

I'd make the argument that he's done that already. Hasn't held the belt since April 2009, was more or less a vehicle for HBK's return during last summer's angle, was on the mid-card at Wrestlemania and has been out since this April or so. His bad reputation from way back when was well-deserved, but it seems he's done a lot in the last couple years to step away from that.
When he comes back, of course he'll be back in the main event picture. But given how often the top guys seem to take sabbaticals or get hurt these days that's not necessarily a bad thing for anyone. It'll prolong his career and allow some of the top guys to take a break for a couple months while keeping a bonafide superstar in the main event picture. You can swap HHH for Orton, Cena or Edge and run an angle for a month or two without losing any star power.

I agree. HHH definitely seems more in the Undertaker phase of his career. While I might not agree with his (and presumably Steph's) decision to really push the heck out of Sheamus so quickly, I'll grudgingly admit that the big bastard has stuck around and gotten better.

Yes, but here's the thing: These guys have been feuding off and on since 1997. At some point, you need to let it go. The story has run its course.

Put it this way: Had Undertaker not been injured, he would've been facing Kane in a championship match at SummerSlam 2010. Think about that. Could you have imagined the second-biggest PPV of the year in 2000 being headlined by Hulk Hogan and King Kong Bundy? Time-wise, it's the same thing.

I agree. Kane and Taker have already had two Wrestlemania battles, and they've both teamed up and battled on and off for the last 13 years. Unless Kane's actually going to go over on Taker, there's nothing fresh.

The special thing about Taker/HBK was that they hadn't worked together in 12 years. Michaels had taken the five years off, but even then, it would have seemed fairly recent. That is, until they had their battle in the Rumble, then all of a sudden, it was like, "Wow, it really has been 12 years, time really flies", and that made it seem fresh.

Flair/Steamboat feuded in '78, and had a brief program in '83 before their famous '89 program. And that was back when things were more slower paced, so it seemed more fresh.

Taker and Kane haven't fought -- at Mania, at least -- in seven years. The first time, it was six years in between matches. I don't mind WWE restarting this "feud." Maybe it's a sign that both are on their way out -- for good -- and WWE looks at it as a good way to send both of them out.

I thought Trips would be the guy who came out last among Cena's team for taking out NXT.

Great way to squash your tag champions, your most popular high-flyer, and the rest of your midcard, WWE. Horrible booking.

I can fully understand having Nexus win the 7 on 7 tonight. Heck, I can even see them winning by a good amount. But to sweep Bourne, the Harts, and everyone else, 7-0, frankly sucked. They could have easily had seven no-name jobbers from their developmental company get squashed and it would have had the same effect. Instead, they just killed Bourne and everyone else.
