gosh darn. Do you think stats happen in a vacuum, and that watching the game frees you from them? Where do you think stats come from? From the games we watch, they provide reference points to evaluate what exactly is going on.

This is like watching the Washington Generals take a 10-point fourth-quarter lead.

Wow, you are getting your ass kicked by Herpes. Which are the made up stats, OBP?

Ever heard of sample size? Would you like to wager what MVP Punto's OBP is by the end of the year?

Bodie, your arguments are so simplistic that a 4th grader would be embarrassed to make them. I honestly don't even know where to begin with them, they're so bad.

No one is saying that Punto hasn't been good at getting on base to this point in the season. Instead, we're pointing out that for the next five months, if Punto is playing every day for your team, that is a bad sign, as his OBP will crater. It's guaranteed that that will happen. Also, players very rarely (sans heavy steroid use) become better at getting on base when they are 35-years-old.

He doesn't NEED math! His eyes tell him all he needs to know. Go play with your slide rule, JC.

Jesus, I never said he was an MVP, I was saying when he plays this season (which is 2013, not 2007 when he had an OBP of .222 or whatever the fork it was) he seems to do well. Will it continue, maybe it will maybe it won't. Will Kemp break out of his slump, maybe he will, maybe he won't. Will Kershaw dominate the rest of the season? Everything is a question at this point.

You guys see my name attached to a post and because I am not one of the chosen few who get the pass on all things baseball related, I am automatically wrong.

And Dre, do me a favor and find the post where I said I wanted him to play every day? How do you get away with insulting people as much as you do?

He's a player that should be borderline DFA'd everywhere he goes, not someone you want starting twice a week.

Yeah, Skip Schumaker (5-44 with a .295 OBP) is a better option.

Or what about Sellers (13-64 and .282)?

Or Cruz (5-55 and .212)?

All are much better options.

That's 23-163 for three other guys. one hit in roughly seven ABs.

Strangely enough, the last time I took my kids to a Globetrotters "game", the Generals did actually have something like an 8- or 9-point lead in the fourth, thanks to a few gimmicks, such as putting Trotters in penalty boxes and designated spots on the floor about 35 feet away for four-point shots.

Trotters pulled it out, naturally, but it was only by like 3 or 4 points. There actually were a couple thousand nervous-looking faces for a few minutes in the fourth. Pretty weird vibe.

Carry on.

A) His current pace won't continue. 100% guaranteed.

B) If you don't want him to play everyday, then why bring up the other guys that he should be playing over?
