10 weeks to go and officials are still saying it's a go even with only 2% of Japan's population vaccinated.

    A thread rooted in reality:

This really could be the most f-d up Olys ever considering the athletes are a year past their "peak" when they qualified. But then again - maybe the world just needs a party at the end of this madness. I'm guessing all the athletes will be vaccinated and Tokyo will take a bath due to limited ticket sales etc. but whatevs....

You must not be familiar with the awesomeness that was the 1904 Olympics in St. Louis.

The 1904 Olympics are one of my favorite screwball sports stories. Anytime you start off awarding gold medals in Tug of War and Plunge For Distance and things only get more bizarre from there, you've got something.

So who would NBC have do the Tug of War? Al? Tirico? Collinsworth? Greg Gumbel? Ian Eagle?

I would watch the shit out of Olympic tug of war.

I’d be most interested in who would be the color commentator. Who qualifies as a tug of war expert? Some Patches O’Hoolihan type character?

Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No! But I do it anyway because it’s sterile and I like the taste.

Bring Doc out of retirement. He did water polo and was awesome on it.

The thing about Doc on water polo was you realized that every water polo offense basically looks like a power play, and you realize. Oh, that's why they had him call this.
