The image of Daniel Vogelbach brought back so many memories from beer league softball games. The physique. The face. The name. The random injury running around the bases. The jersey referencing beer. It had it all.

Martinez needs to ask the umps to confiscate Harper’s bat today and have it examined for being loaded.

Baseball turns into Spy vs. Spy.

Among the many weird things in that game. The Angels didn't use a DH for Othani, while the Giants used one for Gausman. Angels also had to use their emergency catcher and had a pitcher playing left field in extra innings.

I was at the game and the Angels also had to use Dylan Bundy as a pinch hitter. With Ohtani pitching and hitting and Justin Upton out with a bad back, they had a two-man bench and both pinch hit before the 12th. They sent Upton to the on deck circle as a decoy, but he didn't bat

When's the last time an American League team had three pitchers with plate appearances in the same game? Ohtani, Griffin Canning who played left after Kurt Suzuki got hurt and had a sacrifice bunt, and Bundy, who struck out, all went to the plate.

The Angels thought they won the game in the 12th but had a safe call at the plate overturned. The game went nearly five hours. We bailed after the Giants scored their first three of seven runs in the 13th.

It was my first MLB game since September 2019 and it seemed natural to be back at the ballpark. Being a midweek day game, there wasn't a large crowd and my buddy and I had a row to ourselves.

I think the Angels are going to conclude that having Ohtani pitch and bat for himself leads into too many late-inning substitution booby traps once he leaves the game as a pitcher.

Nice game recap. Have you thought about sending your resume to The Athletic? I know a guy…

MTM probably couldn't tell from where he was sitting, but Stassi pinch hit with the bases loaded one one out in the 11th. Count went to 3-1 and he whiffed on the next two pitches, which were both high. If he takes either, the winning run walks in.
