Pretty interesting slate for this year:

    Beck*
    Pat Benatar
    Kate Bush
    DEVO
    Duran Duran*
    Eminem*
    Eurythmics
    Judas Priest
    Fela Kuti
    MC5
    New York Dolls
    Dolly Parton*
    Rage Against the Machine
    Lionel Richie*
    Carly Simon*
    A Tribe Called Quest*
    Dionne Warwick

    * First Time nominees

Carryovers from 2021: Kate Bush, DEVO, Fela Kuti, Rage, Dionne Warwick, New York Dolls

On the 2020 ballot: Benatar, Judas Priest, MC5

I think that just leaves the Eurythmics from 2018.

    Initial thoughts:

I think Beck gets inducted in a walk.

Kind of surprised Carly Simon and Lionel Richie aren't already in.

The Dolly nomination is a bit curious. Unless perhaps it's paving the way to bring in a whole bunch of the new generation of country musicians.

Will need to give some thought to the 5 I think will be selected.

And alas, no nomination for Foreigner, which will make this thread just a tad more pedestrian.

That is an absolutely godawful list.

I'd vote for Beck, DEVO and Fela Kuti.

I could maybe be talked into a couple of others, like Judas Priest.

Beyond that, this is a heaping pile of "who cares?"

I love whip it but DEVO does not belong in the rock and roll Hall of Fame.

Beck, Eminem, Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar and Rage would be my votes.

The first three are obvious. Benatar just to recognize the women who bent the norm in punk and glam rock (though others were first and possibly better so if someone says I'm wrong there, I'm not going to argue). Rage because they were such good musicians first and also took grunge from being mopey about everything to actually embracing the rock and roll protest heritage. Again, I'm open to being called wrong here.

You can talk me into Tribe mostly because I wasn't into hip hop so I can't offer much of an opinion there.

Judas Priest was cool and I'm not ashamed to say I saw them live, but other than making BDSM bikers cooler, I'm not sure what makes them Hall worthy. Maybe Rob Halford coming out?

Dolly is on the list because of her influence, not being on American Top 40 or whatever.
New York Dolls and MC5 would certainly qualify in terms of influence.

I love Dolly Parton. She was my mom's favorite. She's a great singer, and from what I've seen maybe the most gracious and classy celebrity out there.
I just can't see her in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
I will always advocate for Judas Priest and Iron Maiden getting in, but you can't put one in without the other.
This comes with the disclaimer that deep down, it doesn't make any difference to me, really. It's fun to comment on, but my opinion on any artist will not change according to whether or not they get in the Hall.
And if Dolly gets in, I'll laugh and shake my head, but you won't hear me griping about it.

Who I think will get in:

    Beck
    Eminem
    Duran Duran
    Carly Simon
    Judas Priest

Considered Lionel Richie for the last spot, but just can't see it being all first time nominees.

Thought hard about Rage Against the Machine as well, but have had them in my picks in previous years, and that didn't pan out.

I like Judas Priest a little, but they (it?) get(s) a demerit because Halford started wearing flannel with the sleeves ripped off when grunge was ascendant.

Beck has really had a fascinating career. A song like Loser could have firmly put an artist in one-hit wonder territory, but his sound evolved from album to album. Really strong discography.

Tribe is very good. But it seems like the hip-hop acts that are in the Hall were trendsetters, and I'm not sure you can say that about them.

I listened to “Odelay” every day for, like, three months straight when it came out. Love that album.
