2024-25 College Basketball Thread

One of the first weekend sites is almost always Raleigh/Greensboro/Charlotte. They rarely have a hard time selling tickets with one of Duke/UNC expected to be there.

The big 10 tournament meant absolutely nothing

Most always the teams in the B1G title game are in the tournament already. Does the B1G value that lead in spot to the bracket show more than its champion being rewarded with a better seed/geographic placement?

Some Wisconsin fans are upset that two 3 seeds (Iowa State and Kentucky) are playing in Milwaukee instead of the Badgers. Perhaps Iowa State would've been shuffled to Denver instead if Wisconsin won today.

I know one way Wisconsin could've ensured a spot in Milwaukee: Don't lose at home to Penn State to close the regular season.

Duke at the ESA? That place has been a house of horrors for the Blue Devils.

And I hope it continues to be.

The best tournament was in 2021, when all the games were in Indianapolis, and virtually everyone played at a true neutral site.

I loved that tournament because we got games at Hinkle. You only ended up with true neutral sites though because Purdue was the only Indiana team to make it and they bounced early (as usual).

The best is when they both get sent to the same site. The Carolina fans tend to significantly outnumber the Duke fans, undoing the home court advantage. A hilarious , unintended consequence of the pod system.

CBS demands it.

Texas/UNC in the field is a joke. Boise had more wins (24-21), a higher net (44-52), eliminated SDSU from the MWC tourney and made the finals but SDSU gets in instead?

Louisville as an 8 getting to play at Lexington, Oregon as a 5 getting Seattle. Way too favorable.

Louisville fans are screaming about the seeding. They'd rather be anywhere else if it meant what they probably deserved, which is a six or maybe a five.

Well considering Michigan beat what turned out to be a three seed for the title, team it went 2-0 against on the road an neutral, and beat two teams in the semis and quarterfinals (one team it took two of the three matchups against) that ended up as fours, being a five doesn't make much sense

South Carolina looked bored to be a top regional seed.

It has become routine. Maybe too much so. The good news is that thousands are still flocking to Columbia to watch the team for home games, and that Dawn Staley really gets it when it comes to dealing with the media.

The possible drawback is it has become old hat enough that the excitement is gone.

Not sure they have that much of a case. And, given that Pat Kelsey and that staff have picked that program up so quickly, can they not enjoy the quick journey back?

(Read in some places that Jon Scheyer should have gotten more recognition for ACC COY. Take one look at what Kelsey did at Louisville, given where that program was a year ago, and keep making that argument with a straight face.)
