9/11/01--Where were you when you heard the news?

I was asleep and a friend called me when the first plane hit. I turned on the TV in time to see the second.

Naturally, I was glued to the TV until I had to go to work. We had nothing going on that nght, except for one tennis match, so after we finished the paper full of no sports playing stories, I ws glued some more.

I got home that night, watched people showing pictures of their relatives missing and broke down.

This MSNBC thing is weird. I didn't see it live because I didn't have cable - I was watching network news - and I don't remember a lot of it.
Just strange to see how much misinformation was out there.

Actually, MSNBC was reairing NBC's Today Show coverage from that morning.

Oh.
I must not have watched NBC that day then.

I remember watching a documentary one time of Sept. 11 that was made by two brothers who were supposed to be making a documentary on FDNY. They ended up getting extensive footage of the entire day and it was a fascinating movie. Does anyone know the name of it or where I can order it?

That was the one shown on CBS last year on the fifth anniversary. That was some damn good footage.

And about 20 days later I was 30,000 feet above Afghanistan, for about 18 months. Fun times.

There you are, Three!

Any words of wisdom on the defacing of the Wall? I'm in a bit of a snit. If any oil touched Cliff McKittrick's name...let's just say, I don't want to know.

The footage from 9/11 that stands out is in/near this coffee shop. One of the towers is coming down, and someone drags this woman inside, and she is crying, hysterically. "Thank you. You saved my life!" They showed it a bunch of times on CNN in the following days.

This is probably the closest I came to "feeling" it, because I didn't watch it live.

The only time I ever saw death in relation to this was at the one-month mark. At the Boston Herald's site, they still had a 9/11 photo gallery up. They had photos of people jumping from the buildings, in mid-air. It made me angry and sad. I've not had the courage to see that since.

Sorry, JJBN. You lost me there, man.
