A question about Sonic

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by chained2thedesk, Dec 2, 2008.

  1. OK, so a Sonic opened near my home about a year ago, and usually I grab something at the drive-thru on my way to work or wherever.

The other night I went and parked there to eat with myy wife and daughter.

We ordered and the car hop came with our food.

    I paid and she left.

Suddenly it hit me, and I asked my wife, "Should I have tipped her?'

So I ask my SJ brethern: Anybody out there tip Sonic car-hops?

I haven't been to a Sonic in probably ten years. I don't think we tipped her, then again, I think it was a friend of a friend.

We've been down this road before.

Sonic employees do not make a waitstaff wage, they make full minimum wage (at least). There is no need to tip them.

Personally, I only tip at Sonic if they're on roller skates.

Before I clicked, I knew this would be the question.

If you pay by credit card at Sonic, there is no line to write in a tip. You be the judge.

I always tip. If they're schlepping it to my car in the summer heat or winter cold, they get a bonus from me.

  7. Sorry to have dredged up an already-beaten-to-death topic, but I didn't know the answer, and I figured maybe some other Sonic newbies (or SportsJournalists.com newbies, for that matter) might learn something from my curiosity.

Here's something to learn from your curiosity: Sonic's onion rings suck if you don't eat them when they're piping hot.

He's a Hedgehog, but not The Hedgehog.

Here's what it looks like when Sonic gets mugged:
