Has there been any confirmation of when the next set of 13 episodes will run? If they wait until fall, they're going to lose a ton of viewers. If they manage to start in spring, the episodes would have to be rushed and may not be as good.

I believe it's next October during AMC's FearFest.

It makes sense from a production standpoint. If you want to keep our characters in the same atmosphere and time as we last saw them, then you have to shoot in Atlanta in the spring and summer. It's clearly hot as balls, and you don't get that effect if you're shooting in the winter and airing season 2 in the spring.

If this virus is spread via saliva, then a world wide outbreak could be very easy. You could be contagious before ever showing "zombie" traits in your behavior.

And never underestimate the power of sheer zombie numbers. The Germans basically could never defeat the Russians because the Russians had more bodies than the Germans had bullets.

And there has to be people out there. You could have nuclear subs or weather station outposts that could be still existing. The key is trying to communicate with other people. How do the remaining people find each other?

    And what was whispered?

    My guesses are...

The CDC started this entire mess.

The zombies will wear down and die. You just need to outlast them.

That is my other questions for World Wide Z readers, do zombies die? Do they wear down? They need food for energy, right? A staple of science is all living things need energy, and outside of the sun, nothing creates its own energy from basically nothing. So zombies will wear down and die unless they start eating each other.

    Wouldn't they keep decomposing?

Got around to reading the Zombie Survival Guide (the prequel to World War Z) last night. It's *really* good stuff, does a nice job of making the zombies seem practical.

Depending on the environment, it takes 5-10 years for a zombie to decompose to the point that it's no longer functional.

Since they have absolutely no healing ability, and all muscle movements create small tears, they do lose mobility steadily as well.

Cold weather slows them down even more, even to the point that they freeze entirely, but that also preserves them so that they can just stay dormant until they thaw.

I would take a zombie hostage or cage it. Try to make my way to an island of some sort that should be zombie free, leaving the caged zombie on mainland I would check the zombie to see about once every few months to see if it had died.

I'm guessing zombies cannot cross bodies of water.

Maybe live on a boat and anchor it close to a shore?

They can walk along the bottom nearly indefinitely. The Zombie Survival Guide says this is a viable option, though one that people frequently overestimate, but you *must* have someone who watches your anchor line 24/7, because a zombie at the bottom of the water can climb up the line.

I would think a second or third floor of a secure building would be the best refuge. They can't climb the outside of walls, and you've got a good sniper to just sit and pick them off as you have opportunities. If you're in a non populous area, eventually you could get the zombie count down to manageable. Trying to do that in a major metro area would be pissing on a brush fire, though.
