TrooperBari - I've heard very good things about World War Z. It's actually on my book list. I'd like opinion from another person, if you don't mind. (I assume you read it based on your zombie smarts).

I've read WWZ and liked it a lot. The story is told through a bunch of "interviews," so it's unlike a traditional novel. I grabbed it at an airport and finished it in 3 days.

Highly recommended. You pick up more if you've read Max Brooks' "Zombie Surivival Guide" beforehand, but it's a good read even if you haven't.

Like k_m said, it's done through a series of interviews with survivors from different parts of the world -- the US, Canada, Russia, India, Israel, etc. -- and the variety of perspectives really makes the book. It's well worth your time.

Thanks, both of you. Merry Christmas to me with that book.

Finally got to watch the end of the last episode. Holy shit, that was an intense ending. How many of the main crew died? I think I counted four.

I believe they got Ed, Amy and two "redshirts" - a chick and a guy with a beard.

Sorry for the repeat for my Facebook friends, but my mom just asked me if this show was based on a true story. I'm not kidding.

P.S. Dr. J picked up World War Z for me today. It's a great read.

Tonight's show was great. Hate the cliff hang ending, but can't wait to see where it leads next week.

Tonight's was about the most graphic thing I've seen on regular tv.

The wife dispatching her husband and the sister taking care of zombie sister.

    Whoa.

Question for those that know Atlanta geography...is there such a thing as this rock quarry near Atlanta (which is northwest of the city according to Rick when he was talking on the walkie in the beginning of tonight's episode). Just curious if it's real or made up.

Atlanta is on the tail end of the Appalachian Mountains, so there are a lot of rocky areas and hillsides, especially on the outskirts. Stone Mountain on the east/northeast side is a tourist attraction. I'm not sure about this specific quarry, but I'd guess it's legit.

I'm a bit confused on the geography of this show, though. There was talk in an early episode (when we first learned of the camp) about I85 going into the city. That leads into the SW part of the city. If they're camped on the northwest side, they're probably using I75 or I20 into the city. Not sure why they'd talk about I85.

Also, that iconic shot of Rick on horseback riding into the city is on Freedom Parkway, which means he's facing west and coming from the east.

Freedom Parkway was the same road they took out of Atlanta with the utility vehicle and Glenn's joy ride. Maybe I'm being picky, but that means they're headed east of the city. That's realistic considering Freedom Parkway's proximity to the GA Dome (which they were just 2-3 blocks from based on the warehouse rooftop shots). But if I'm not sure why they're headed east and away from the city if the camp is on the northwest side. Probably just the quickest way out and to safety. And we didn't see much of their drive back to the camp.
