Question for those that know Atlanta geography...is there such a thing as this rock quarry near Atlanta (which is northwest of the city according to Rick when he was talking on the walkie in the beginning of tonight's episode). Just curious if it's real or made up.
Atlanta is on the tail end of the Appalachian Mountains, so there are a lot of rocky areas and hillsides, especially on the outskirts. Stone Mountain on the east/northeast side is a tourist attraction. I'm not sure about this specific quarry, but I'd guess it's legit.
I'm a bit confused on the geography of this show, though. There was talk in an early episode (when we first learned of the camp) about I85 going into the city. That leads into the SW part of the city. If they're camped on the northwest side, they're probably using I75 or I20 into the city. Not sure why they'd talk about I85.
Also, that iconic shot of Rick on horseback riding into the city is on Freedom Parkway, which means he's facing west and coming from the east.

Freedom Parkway was the same road they took out of Atlanta with the utility vehicle and Glenn's joy ride. Maybe I'm being picky, but that means they're headed east of the city. That's realistic considering Freedom Parkway's proximity to the GA Dome (which they were just 2-3 blocks from based on the warehouse rooftop shots). But if I'm not sure why they're headed east and away from the city if the camp is on the northwest side. Probably just the quickest way out and to safety. And we didn't see much of their drive back to the camp.
