I have a question regarding 5 point cutthroat....(trump in, trump out)
Is 5 the max number of players you can have?

I play, but I am not sure what we call our version. We play with six people, six cards dealt to each and six cards in the kitty. After bidding and the trump suit announced, everyone including the high bidder can draw one or two cards (and discarding the same amount).

If everyone takes two cards, all 54 cards (there are two jokers, high and low for anyone following this) are possibly in play.

This makes bidding a hell of a lot easier, because you don't have to hold back fearing that lots of cards were undealt.

It is also pretty damn mindless and I hate it. But, that's what my gf and her friends like to play.

Also, we are playing partners - three women versus three men.

    Sometimes we play partners.
    This is individual.
We each get 6 cards, but no one gets any out of the kitty.
We play hi, lo, jack, off jack, game.

Played a game recently where I was dealer and reluctantly matched 2, with just a 6 and 9 for trump. Played the 6 first. I could've dropped my pants and not gotten more shock out of these folks. Got 3 out of it.
These people don't trust me playing cards with them anymore...not even my partner.

We call it set-back. high, low, jack, game. Nickle a point.

This is two transposed words away from being among both the nastiest and most depressing things ever written on this board.
