    I'm being serious. It's awful.

To lie to a foster kid about adoption - to say nothing of cheating the kid out of the movie proceeds, etc. - is terrible.

I'd say there is a whole lot more to this than him just now figuring it out. They've had a spat about something.
I don't doubt the facts of the story. I just question the timing. It's not like the movie came out two weeks ago.
He's just now speaking up? You can't tell me that his agent or someone didn't catch the part where he was being shorted money.

Probably not a real opportune moment to jump on that particular side of this argument.

    1. That seems like a violation of the unwritten reporters’ code.

    2. WTF does that have to do with the veracity of the claim?

If he was still subject to the conservatorship - did he even have an agent who was completely independent of the Tuohys to look after his individual interests? - to me that raises a pretty strong negative inference about how the Tuohys were operating. The only defensible thing to do in their position would have been to insist that he hire an independent voice to look out for him.

And do people start wondering about what Michael Lewis knew and when he knew it?

I enjoy Lewis’ books and podcasts, but fully understand that they are largely works of entertainment.

The Lewis/Gladwell/Derek Thompson oeuvre has stories and quotes that are always 20 percent too pat and perfect.

Sounds like someone who just wanted to get away with saying vaguely racist things.
